Use the Firmware detect tool
to determine the firmware of
the drive
The firmware on this test
drive is currently b7v9
but we know that there is an
upgrade available to b7w9.
The upgrade comes as b7w9.zip
archive and extracted we have
the executable B7W9.EXE
Assuming you have taken all
the precautions as outlined
previously you are now ready
to perform the upgrade.
Before
you start eject the drives tray
and remove any disc that may
be in it.
Follow the
instructions below for the update
procedure:
Please
Note: Warranty will be lost if using
incorrect updating procedures, or
if unofficial modified firmware is
used.
Run the Flash
program on Win98/Me/2000/XP directly.
Please
Note: This program does not
work under Win95 / NT
You
will get the following warning which
has already been outlined (Fig.1)

Clicking
OK will bring up the drive
select box (Fig.2)

Select the
drive you want to upgrade and click
"Upgrade" You will see
a confirmation box, (Fig.3) click
"OK" to confirm and the
firmware will commence the upgrade

A successful
upgrade will show the following
message (Fig.5), followed by a reboot
dialogue box (Fig.6)

WARNINGS:-
Do
not open any programs or start
any system functions during the
update, as they will interfere
with data transfer and damage
the drive.
Do
not cancel the operation once
it has been started or the drive
will
become permanently damaged, as
a result.
It
is important to reboot the PC
immediately after a firmware upgrade
so that Windows can register the
drive correctly
