Use the Firmware detect tool
to determine the firmware of
the drive. (The firmware on
this drive featured opposite
is currently 1.55 but
we know that there is an upgrade
available to 1.58)
The upgrade comes as DVR109_FW158EU.EXE
Assuming you have taken all
the precautions as outlined
previously you are now ready
to perform the upgrade.
Before
you start, eject the drive tray
and remove any disc that may
be in it and close all other
programs running on the computer.
Please
Note: Warranty will be lost
if using incorrect updating
procedures, or if unofficial
modified firmware is used.
Follow the
instructions below for the update
procedure:
Double-click on the update program
DVR109_FW158EU.EXE
Select an appropriate Destination
Folder (or just use the default)
and click on the Install button

Choose whether to update the drives
simultaneously or each drive individually
(Fig.2).
For individual drives: Click
on No to update the drives
individually then continue with
Stage 3 (Fig 3). For all drives: Click on
Yes to update all connected
drives then skip to Stage 4 (Fig.4).

As each drive is shown in the
message box, choose 'YES'
or 'NO' to update the device
(Fig.3).
WARNING:
Do NOT perform any other operations
during the update(s)!

Monitor the firmware update
progress.
The following windows appear after
the process begins showing the update
progress... (Fig.4).

Confirm that each drive's firmware
has updated.
After the update is complete, the
drive(s) firmware version is displayed
on-screen (Fig.5).

Click on 'OK' to finish the
upgrade process and close the window.
WARNINGS:-
Do
not open any programs or start any
system functions during the update,
as they will interfere with data
transfer and damage the drive.
Do
not cancel the operation once it
has been started or the drive will
become permanently damaged, as a
result.
It
is important to reboot the PC immediately
after a firmware upgrade so that
Windows can register the drive correctly.
