Firmware Upgrade: Plextor |
|
|
Plextor
PX-716A
Use the Firmware detect tool
to determine the firmware of
the drive
The firmware version of the
drive in this example is currently
1.08 but we know that there
is an upgrade available to 1.09.
The upgrade comes zipped as
a file px716_108.zip and
contains 716a109.exe which
is a self contained executable
that just needs to be run with
the on screen instructions followed.
|
|

You can also download
the binary file instead which comes
in a zip file as 716A109.zip.
When extracted you get the file
716A109.bin which is the
raw firmware for the drive. To upgrade
your drive using this binary file
you will need to use a firmware
flashing utility.
All firmwares and
upgrade utilities are manufacturer
specific so make sure you download
the correct one for your drive and
operating system. In this case the
upgrade tool comes as PXUpgrade32.zip
and the executable when extracted
is PXUpgrade32.exe. Once
downloaded make sure the binary
file 716A109.bin and
the upgrade tool PXUpgrade32.exe
are both in the same directory.

has been started or the drive will
become permanently damaged, as a
result.
- It
is important to reboot the PC immediately
after a firmware upgrade so that
