Datawrite Yellow Double Layer 2.4x DVD+R (Pack of 25)
Click thumbnails below...
These discs have a yellow top surface with the familiar Datawrite
branding at the top of the disc and a 4-lined area at the bottom to display the
disc contents.
In common with other double layer discs, these discs have a data capacity of
8.5GB which equates to 240 minutes of video in standard play mode meaning you
can fit even more of your favourite memories and yet still be assured that they
are secure and protected.
We always recommend that customers keep the firmware on their DVD writers up
to date. This is especially true in the case of double layer media as most
reported problems are due to out of date firmware. Click here for our guide to
firmware upgrading.

Really bad!
Every one of these failed to even start burning on my Pioneer
111D (v1.29 firmware) with power calibration errors. Tried
burning in a Toshiba-Samsung burner and they wrote but then
failed to close the session or disk. Don't waste your time with
these, buy something else!

No probs for me...
I bought a spinlde of 10 of these from SVP for personal use, admittedly around a year ago. They have CMC dye.
I bought them as they were a good price, and as I don't burn many DL discs, I'm still finding out which one are ok.
I'd have problems in the apst wih Traxdata discs, but so far, I've had no problems with any of these DVDs - again, from a spindle of 10 from a year ago.
I'm buring on a Pioneer 110 with latest firmware (though cross-flashed from 110D to 110 for DVD-RAM usage). Not the newest drive but works so fine.
Other people ahev given low reviews so maybe things with these disc have changed more recently. However, as I say, I've absolutely no probs whatsoever.

Not one of them work it seems
Used 10 of these datawrite yellow disks before and they were excellent, not one of them turned coaster, burning quality was high albeit slow. Thoguht I'd get the 25 spindle this time and guess what burned 5 now and all of them failed at 58%. Fair enough thought it was the good old lite-on finally giving up so got myself a new Samsung SH-S203D today and same thing happened at 58%. Both drives have latest firmware, too. Sigh.... wish I can have my £17 back....
Looks like some very serious quality control issue on this batch. I have about 19 left but no reason to believe why they'd work. Will keep trying.

How the mighty have fallen.
Used to use the old DVD-R Datawrite Yellows and never had a bad disc. Thinking these were still the bees knees: I ordered a 25 pack of the dual layers and have had nothing but trouble with them, over ten coasters so far and there's still half a spindle left. This is with a Pioneer 111D, latest 1.29 firmware.
Avoid!

DataWrite Yellow +R DL - Excellent DL disk
I have used these Dual Layer disks (about 50 or so) on my PC drive, external DVD drive and TV DVD recorder. Never had a fail or any problems of any kind. With good, efficient service from SVP they must get a 10.
I keep all the firmware up to date as I believe DL disks can be more fussy than single layer but never a problem for me.

not to bad
i bought 75 of these little dancers a while back.
only had 1 fail on me but that was due to system locking up.
used primary for xbox 360 back ups they are spot.
but be warned we have 3 xbox 360 systems and they seem to be disk fussy. but on mine they work like a charm.
all used on a NEC 3500 burner

Not bad at all!
I got these as a replacement for a pack of CMC dual layer discs that were absolutely appalling (now no longer available on the SVP site and good riddance!) These yellow Datawrites, however, have been fine - 7 good quality burns so far out of 7 discs, hopefully the other 18 will be just as good. Good customer service from SVP as well. I see these discs have been getting mostly bad reviews, well I can definitely give them a thumbs up.

Datawrite Yellow Double Layer 2.4x DVD+R
Appalling Disks !!
I use these to back up Xbox 360 games and they have been reliable in the past and had a good name but I have had 10 failures in a row using a Pioneer 111D flashed with the latest firmware.
I popped in a Verbatim and it burnt without any problems. Tried again with another 4 Datawrites and all coasters.
I have read that Datawrite recently moved production from Singapore to India and if this was done as a cost cutting exercise I would have rather that they just put the price up instead of producing rubbish.
I'm afraid the once good name of Datawrites is now tainted as far as I am concerned.
Use them at your own peril !!

Datawrite - weren't they decent once?
I have purchased a pack of these and so far 8 out of 8 coasters. I have tried them on 4 different writers at different speeds and still no joy. Steer very clear of these unless you have a coaster fetish!!!!!!
