No bad experience yet
I have got 3 500 GB drives so far. No complications yet, but I only use them for backup/archive purpose. So whenever a project is finished or harddrives gets full, I transfer files to them. So I can't tell how safe they are when it comes to actually working on them.

FREECOM are rubbish
This drive was dead on arrival insomuch laptop recognised it as a faulty USB device. Desktop PC recognised it sort of, but as a USB-1 device. Fortunately I already have an FHD-3 where I could swap power supplies, USB cable etc to confirm it was a piece of junk. That's OK it happens, Freecom will sort it out........ err NO ALL DAY I have been trying to contact them. Left messages with real people and on answerphones that promise to return calls, they never did. They have just lost a loyal Freecom customer of many years. I wouldnt touch them again with a bargepole. The FHD-3 was marked as a 2006 model, so obviously a return/refurb and certainly NOT new! * SVP Note * Within the first year, SVP will always assist you directly. Please email sales@svp.co.uk. If a drive is a return or refurb then it will always be described by us as such so to receive a faulty unit is unfortunate.

Great Drive
I've bought two of these now. They are plastic and not alluminium like the other Freecom drives, nevertheles they dont get too hot after many hours of use.. Very stylish and neat they are too.
