"If you're after a solution that doesn't require a great deal of effort, in terms of building and maintaining a library through software like iTunes or Windows Media Player, this is a great way to go."
Pocket-lint, May 2008

The Freecom Network Media Player 450 can transform the way you currently enjoy your home entertainment
Our computers are increasingly becoming the central point for our home entertainment - we're downloading more and more content, including the latest music and films, as well as keeping more of our favourite memories in digital photos and home movies.

But who really wants to sit at a computer to enjoy it all?
With the Freecom Network Media Player you can enjoy that content on your TV, and/or through your hi-fi speakers, whilst relaxing in your favourite chair. View your photos on your large screen TV, and share your memories with family and friends.  Finally, and most impressively, with the Freecom network media player 450, you can also watch most video files on your TV at up to 1080p definition.

Will connect to almost any home system
The Freecom Network Media Player 450 comes complete with almost any connection your hi-fi system or TV could require.  For your hi-fi we include a standard stereo 3.5mm jack, Digital Coax and even a full 5.1 Optical out. And for your TV you can choose to connect via composite, S-Video, HD Component, or full HDMI.

Wired or wireless access to your computer or simply connect to any USB storage device
You could connect to your network via the 10/100 Ethernet port, or through the IEEE 802.11g wireless, and stream files direct from your PC to play on your hi-fi or TV.  Or, if you would prefer, you can plug in a USB memory stick or an external USB hard drive and access the content stored on those.  Alternatively, you could move your favourite files onto a hard drive inside the unit, via the network or USB ports, and listen or watch them directly from your media player.

Freecom MediaPlayer 450
This may be an improvement on the MediaPlayer 35 (which is pretty good) but it still doesn't play MPG4 + GMC

Neat little media player
Will write a review here, as I've not been able to find much in the way of feedback for this model.

I've only just started playing with this, but I have to say I am already rather impressed. I bought this to backup the Music CD/DVD Film collection from the little one (they aren't frisbys!) along with some Photos. The other bonus was finally being able to see my high-definition Mpeg2 Camcorder footage.

I had the Freecom Network MediaPlayer 35 before this (which is nifty enough), but this takes things to the next level. It does everything that model did, and also offers Wireless streaming, the ability to play HD files, plug in additional USB devices etc. It also has HDMI connection for people with High Definition TVs - which can output up to 1080p.

So far it has played everything thrown at it (divx 6/HD, Xvid, WMV9, Mpeg 1/2, DVD files). I even threw in a few swerve-balls and these worked too.

Drive-In model was easy enough to set up (having not done this type of thing before). You just need to put in a 3.5" SATA hard-drive in and format it (which might take a while depending on your drive size).

Then sort out your files, sit back and enjoy!
