You can now enjoy your audio collection without having to spend money to upgrade your car sound system. Play all your audio devices wirelessly through your existing radio.

This device uses FM radio to broadcast the audio files from any attached USB device (pen drive, MP3 player, USB hard drive etc.) or memory card to a preselected radio channel on your car FM radio. Simply plug into the cigarette lighter outlet, insert your USB drive or SD memory card, press play, and your files start playing. The FM frequency is adjustable so you can select the clearest frequency between 87.7 and 88.9 MHz or 106.7 and 107.9 MHz - the small display on the device shows your selection.

This latest version now includes onboard position memory. Never again forget or have to search for the track you last played, this unit will automatically remember and start next time at the beginning of that track. Also includes a small remote control to allow ease of use whether sitting in the front or back of the vehicle.

You can also use the included audio lead to connect to the headphone socket of any other device (e.g. an iPod, portable DVD player etc.) to allow you to play it through the car radio in just the same way.

Previous models caused problems for owners of some vehicles which don't allow much room around the cigarette lighter socket. The innovative hinge design on this model increases the flexibility of the device meaning that shortage of space is now less of an issue.

These devices, formerly illegal to use in the UK, are now permitted due to Ofcom's amendment to the Wireless Telegraphy Act on 8th December 2006.

Great for company car
I drive a company car and do several hundred miles per week. None of the cars I've had in the last few years has had an MP3 player slot or DAB. This gadget has been very worthwhile for keeping me amused in the car. I download podcasts and audiobooks as well as music in MP3 format and put them onto my usb drive. I'm so glad I found this product.

Not quite as good as it might seem
This works very well as a straight audio adapter for your iPOD or Zen player using the cable via the headphone socket (you'll also need an adapter for an iPOD Nano or one with a smaller type headphone socket) but the SD memory card and USB adaptation is not all it seems and is not very sophisticated.

Firstly, on neither SD nor USB have I managed to get it to play unprotected WMA files ripped with Media Player 11 though it plays straight MP3 fine. The limited accompanying documentation specifically says it supports WMA. Likewise, don't expect it to directly play iPOD format files or any protected files downloaded from iTunes!

Also, although not specified, it actually plays tracks in alphabetical or numerical order based on the file name within folders, not necessarily natural track order.
So if you want it to play in album order make sure you rip with the track number at the start of the track title. Of course, it can be interesting to listen in alphabetical order for a change but I wouldn't necessarily recommend Dark Side of the Moon in this case!

Whilst the remote will select a particular track by number, it is the track number based on the total number of files stored. Great if you know which one it might be. Otherwise it's a case of get as close as you dare by guessing the number then hitting the next/previous track buttons until you eventually get there which is a lot of key presses - leave this to your passenger or you'll be hitting the back of a bus!!

I'm not sure how the player chooses folder order; I think it may be by folder creation date or the order in which the folders were written. Difficult to be absolutely sure. There's no 'next/previous folder' option as far as I can determine.
There's also no random play function at all, which is a real shame.

Keep the adapter's volume below maximum or you get distortion from louder tracks (use setting 15 rather than the full 18); use your car radio volume to adjust which will be a bit quieter than regular radio as a result.

Finally, I bought two of these, one for me one for my daughter. On mine, the shiny fascia plate over the LED display just fell off the moment I plugged it in; the double-sided sticky tape used is not destined to last, so the old super-glue is likely to make an appearance.

The hinge works well.

Having said all this, for 10 quid I can't really complain too much.

Good product Great Price
For under £10, its a great product arrived this morning placed into car lighter socket manually searched for an empty FM frequency on Ford radio, set the frequency to same on modulator and selected save channel. placed a SD card into it and thats it. Easy buttons for next track etc and all functions are available on the remote control. Also has an equalizer function. Good product!
