Sourced from a European supplier, these Prodisc CDR feature a silver, full-face inkjet printable top surface instead of the more common white printable alternative.

These discs will especially appeal to those people who own an inkjet CD/DVD printer such as the Epson R220 or R265, or alternatively they offer a simple, plain unbranded surface for disc labelling with a CD/DVD marker pen.

The full-face printable surface allows you to print right up to the centre hub of the disc to produce extremely professional results.

Capacity: 702MB
Manufacturer ID: Prodisc Technology Inc.
Packaging: Unbranded spindle tubs of 100 discs

Please Note: The disc may be printed as close to 6mm from the centre hole but there are two distinct rings close to the center hole which produce a different print quality from the regular silver-printable surface.

Good Discs BUT Not Exactly Full Face Printable!
Used these discs on Nero and on my Yamada stand alone DVD recorder and I've had no failures so far after 50 discs. The playback quality is excellent too! I would've given these discs 10/10 but the printable area is a bit of a let down. SVP have put a note stating you can print upto 6mm from the centre but to be honest it's not worth it because the silver printable area goes to about 12mm from the centre and then there is a 'frosted' bit about 6mm wide which gives a very faint, almost transparent print. Which is a shame because the silver gives a unusual finish - would be fantastic if the silver went all the way to 6mm! Printed out perfect on my now aging Epson R220. Great discs and would highly recommend if your not bothered about the printable area.

Excellent disks
I'm on my second pack of these, printed on my Epson Photo R285 printer. I use them for data and for music, and have very few problems with them. The print quality is very good, although the centre ring is lighter so the print quality changes there, but it's not a problem at all. I print using Epson's own software, I burn using either Nero, Imgburn, Acoustica MP3 CD Burner or even WMP11, all with similar results. I haven't had a coaster to date, probably because I burn using slow speeds.
A tip: The final print, even when dry, marks if it gets wet. I like my disks to look pristine, so I bought a 500ml spray-can of Simoniz Acrylic Lacquer from my local car accessories shop, which I use to seal the disks. This cost me about £3.50 and works perfectly. Takes about 5 minutes to dry, and so far I've done 100+ disks with it and still have plenty left in the can.

Top quality
I have used 70 of these cd`s and not one failure. I suggest that the other people who had numerous failures you should check you firmware is up to date or maybe your software because clearly there is no way you can have as many failures. I cant fault them and they give a different finish.

Full-face printable? No
I have explained to SVP that the disks I recently received are not as described and to be fair to them they did say they would change the product description. However that was two days ago and it's still as it was. If anybody's looking to buy these disks you should be aware that there is a 39mm transparent ring at the centre of the disk.

Prodisc Silver Printable 52x CD-R
As a keen user of PC Consumables, I always read reviews about product on SVP Site, and many other Websites. In this way I can broaden my knowledge about various products. Hence, when I came across two comments,on this Page about the Prodiscs, and the Rating given, 1/10,by two buyers, I couldn't help but add this comment to my Previous Evaluation of my purchase on 16/5/08.From the comments made by the two buyers, I could only read one thing to the effect that :"I bought this product and it was the worst .....". Well, with the greatest of respect to the opinions of these two buyers, I would like them to specify EXACTLY what task they were performing with the Prodisc,i.e Recording/Printing ,and the nature of Audio Material they were trying to copy? And the Hardware they were using ? None of these bits of information were provided in their Comments. It is neither my place, nor is it in my nature to debate an issue of technicality with anybody for the sake of debating, arguing, or wishing to win my argument because MY OWN EXERIENCE WAS GOOD. That does not help illicit good communication about a product with someone who has had a bad experience using the same product. So, I am going to suggest the following:
1. Is the Material being copied,COPYRIGHTED ?In which case, copying can be carried out,but 3/4 of the way,the tiny 'info' in the copyrighted material will be triggered off, to 'punish' the peson copying their material.(today's Copyright Protection info is so sophisticated, and only a real Geek can break it, but then again,IT IS FAR CHEAPER TO BUY THE ORIGINAL AUDIO CD.lol)
2.Is the Firmware, the CD/DVD writers that are being used are up to date with their Own Drivers & Software ?
3. Is the Speed at which a person is trying to copy CDs compatible with the actual Software that is being used ? I know, many discs are designed to write at speeds of 52, for example, but if you're copying a VCD with images, then the required speed will vary. Furthermore,is the Burning Software that's being use, a Good Software,or is it one of these 'Free-Burning-software'?
4. I used the Prodisc when I first bought them, recorded Music on them,Printed my Artwork on them,(As I specified in my Below Comment), Then, I used these Prodisc to make 10 copies of my own, just as a test of My Own Master CD, and believe you me All 10 Prodiscs copied PERFECTLY,Not a single skip, fault,or jump in the music, and I have tested the full duration of Play on EACH DISC.
5. I would say to the two buyers who commented that they had BAD experience to state exactly their methods of Burning , etc.,and raise this issue with SVP directly, because it will help all of us when we can analyse the Success and/or Failure of a Product, then Identify the fault. Then, establish if the fault is due to the product being BAD,or is due to User's Hardware,or Methods or Burning, and Nature of Software.POSITIVE LEARNING IS ABOUT SHARING GOOD QUALITY DETAILED INFORMATION.My Respect to All Commentators.

We could never sell media that was that consistently bad! Please email and we'll work out whether we need to change the discs for you or whether there's something up with the way they're being written.

OK if you aren't in a hurry
I tried again after my last review (see below). I found they will burn at 16x which is a lot slower than the 52x they are rated at. I'd have been quite happy if they had been rated at 16x as I'm not in a hurry and wouldn't have wasted any.

Not Worth the Bother or the 99p delivery
I try not to throw plastic into landfill, but these discs have wiped out all the savings I made by not using carrier bags over the last year.
So far over half have failed, either on burn, or refusing to play after an apparently successful burn.
As I normally get a failure rate of around one percent I don't reckon much to this product.
I can't remember the make of writer I am using - I bought it from SVP a year or so ago, and it been reliable on other makees of DVD and CD
You could argue that with the 99p delivery they are good value, but they waste a lot of plastic and a lot of time.
Don't bother!

Low quality
I bought some of these because with the 99p delivery they work out at about 6p/disc. That's about fair frankly: because I regularly send master CDRs to factories I have the kit to monitor quality and these discs give error rates about twenty (!) times those of Taiyo Yuden. They're still playable and fine for making copies for the car, for parties, for friends who you know will only listen once or twice etc...... but not for anything that really matters!

Equipment: Plextor Premium CD writer at various speeds (makes minimal or no difference).

Prodisc Silver Printable 52x CD-R
I bought these to benefit from the 99p Delivery Service.I had read the Reviews on This Product. I had 50/50 expectation that they might be good. But when I used them:Burning CD Music using Pioneer DVD RW DVD-108 Firmware, Burning at speed 32x, then Printed on Epson R300 Printer, and the outcome was: WOW. THEY ARE GREAT. The music CD played back beautifully, no errors whatsoever, then the printing quality was superb. Now,let me give some details about the Printing and the difference between printing on Prodisc Silver, and the other pure white printable:The Silver gave me a 'Corporate' , modern Hi-Tech finish which was very good, and inspired me to use them for Hi-tech Artistic Finish. The White Printable gives me the 'Michael Angelo'-edge; i.e I get a Matt Finish / Classic Art look and finish. So, I'm a winner in both cases, but then again I'm a discerning Artist/Music/DVD/Art-producer- Designer, for whom every type of Artistic finish thus obtained can have its own use and place. So,it has been a positive lesson to me discovering that what I initially feared had turned out to be a great stimulus which helped me stretch my Artistic Imagination further. So,all you Music Burning fans, when you print on these silver Discs, study your Artwork first,do a test as to the type of finish you want, Hi-tech or Matt/classic ,by reading on the Subject of Colour-mix-interaction.Simply put,get a piece of Silver Paper, use colours of the Rainbow felt pen, scribble lines on the Silver paper, and see what combining these colours with Silver will produce. So, when doing your Artwork for the CD,study your subject matter, and use colours that would combine with silver thus showing prominently the final Artwork on the CD. Remeber, though, that when you get a Silver effect-gaps in your printed artwork,it does not mean it's bad printing, but rather a different finish from that you would obtain from printing on Matt Surfaces, such as the White CD printable. Well, I am now going to place another order for these Silver printable CDs, and expand my Artistic bent into the Hi-tech Artwork design on CD. THANK YOU SVP ,KEEP SUPPLYING US WITH GOOD PRODUCTS like this, keep your prices down, and I will be coming back for more, more, and more of these discs.
