Unlike many speakers, the housing of Sharp's iElegance lives up to its name thanks to a curvaceous, modern design. In addition to being an iPod dock (allowing you to recharge your iPod while you play music) offering AM/FM radio and clock/alarm functions, the iElegance also offers six EQ presets to let you tweak the sound of your music for various genres - rock, jazz, vocals, and so on, meanwhile, the 'Esound' mode expands compressed music formats for better sound. A nice two-way bass reflex system with built-in subwoofers helps provide remarkably rich and surprisingly loud sound performance.

Eight (supplied) iPod connector adaptors provide ample scope for easily docking your iPod but what makes the iElegance even more flexible is the fact it can be plugged into a DVD player or VCR. It has a standard headphone socket and its video out means you can play video from video iPods and feed out to a TV for example. In other words the iElegance can be quickly turned into a mini home cinema sound system.

A funky blue backlight provides an added effect, which can also be dimmed if you find it becomes too distracting.

In terms of control, the iElegance comes with a small remote control to help control a docked iPod (you can clearly see the iPod screen at all times while docked) and the radio and theres also a set of controls on the center of the machine.
