The I-MU Piggy is a super-energy crystal speaker that utilizes highly efficient vibration technology to turn any flat surface into a high quality audio speaker.
I-MU's patented super-energy crystal products can be played on a huge range of flat surfaces from hard floors, fridges, freezers & fire surrounds to car bonnets, cupboards and computer desks.
But how does it work? Well, it uses a small piece of a material called Terfenol-D, originally used by the US Navy for sonar work. The Terfenol is placed within an aluminum case and a coil wrapped round it. When electricity is passed through the coil the Terfenol expands slightly creating a force of 450 pounds - when it's attached to a flat surface it transmits electronic signals into mechanical energy causing the flat surface to vibrate and broadcasts the sound.
