Those nice little Tuffdisc 1.4 DVDs
I've been using these discs, both for data and video, for a few weeks now and find them great. I don't know about long-term useage, but for my purposes - lots of utilities and stuff - the high capacity and small size compared to a CD-R suit me down to the ground. I've even bought those mini DVD cases that are just so I Want One to whoever sees them!
Oh, and the price is a definite plus - although like Mr Djemal I don't know if I would use/trust them for long term storage, preferring some Taiyo Yuden-based discs and a darkened and cool place to store them.

Tuffdisc (4x) 1.4GB 8cm DVD-R 25 pack
I was quite surprised by the finish quality of these 8cm Mini-DVD's , I mean what can you buy these days for £3.98? how about a 25 pack of these 'budget' 1.4GB DVD's! The top surface of these discs looks like its been coated at least twice and is reassuringly resistant to light to moderate rubbing and friction, the logo is at the bottom so you write the title at the top, being only 8cm you shouldn't babble to much with your written description. The dye is Infosmart 01, I have to admit, I have never used this dye before buying these discs so I can't comment from experience about its reliability or longevity going forward. The discs can be burned at 1x, 2x and 4x speeds and hold roughly the same amount of data as two full size 700MB CDR's. I didn't buy these discs to use them in a DVD camcorder or such, I bought them for storing and sharing small compilations of data where a full size DVD is not neccessary or a CDR gives too little storage space. I would recommend these discs for short term storage purposes or handouts for friends/clients , if you're going to store data long term it would probably be better to spend a little more money and get a disc based on MCC dye, better reliability over the longer term.
