The Garmin Instinct Solar uses sunlight to boost the battery while you're outside in the sun, so you won't find your battery dying halfway through your trek.
It's water-resistant to 100m and the silicone band is designed to fit securely, so it won't get caught on things.
The military-standard casing is thermal-, shock and water-resistant. The screen has been chemically strengthened to stand up to the extremes. It's scratch-resistant so it'll stay looking good.
As well as built-in GPS, it's also got a 3-axis compass, barometric altimeter and GLONASS and Galileo navigation systems.
You can plan your trips in advance on the Garmin Explore website. The TracBack feature on the watch helps to guide you back the way you came, so you won't get lost.
